IGNOU Admission 2019: Registration, Last Date, Online Application Form, Admission Procedure

urrently ranked among the largest open universities in the world, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established in 1985 and currently offers 227 academic programmes through 67 Regional Centres spread across the country. For July session, the online registration for most of the courses usually commences in the month of May every year and ends in the last week of June. However, for some specific courses, the last date of admission may vary.

Those seeking admission can apply through the IGNOU Online admission portal within the stipulated time. Candidates can also re-register for certain UG, PG and Research courses offered by IGNOU before within the stipulated time through the IGNOU re-registration portal. For admission to most of the IGNOU courses offered by the University, candidates are shortlisted for admission on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying degree. However, in case of some specific courses, the University conducts an admission test for selection of students.

Key Points:

  • There are walk-in-admissions throughout the year for Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme and all Certificate Programmes [Except Certificate in Rural Surgery (CRS) and Certificate in Teaching of Primary School Mathematics (CTPM)]

  • IGNOU MBA Admission 2019

    IGNOU provides two specialization courses in Management for graduate students. These courses are for a minimum period of two and a half years. Candidates seeking admission must have completed graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks for general category and should also have cleared OPENMAT examination, conducted by IGNOU.

    For the current academic session, the OPENMAT XLIV entrance test for management programs will be conducted in December. Candidates can download the hall ticket/ admit card for OPENMAT XLIV from the official IGNOU website upon entering their Enrolment Number.

    • Log on to the official IGNOU website and click the Admit Card for OPENMAT XLIV Entrance Test for Management Programme link.
    • Next, the candidate should enter his/her enrollment number OR Enter his/her name along with the date of birth.
    • Upon successful submission, the corresponding Hall Ticket/ Admit Card will be displayed on the screen. Please verify all the details printed on the IGNOU Admit Card.

    Selection of candidates to the IGNOU management programmes (MBA, DIM, PGDIM and PG Diplomas in HRM, FM, OM, MM and FMP) will be done on the basis of the score obtained in the OPENMAT, conducted all over India twice a year. Subsequently, a result card will be dispatched to all the candidates who have appeared in the OPENMAT examination. It will indicate whether the candidate has qualified or not for the IGNOU MBA programmes on the basis of cut-off score as per the University guidelines.

    Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU management programmes can register for OPENMAT by downloading the information brochure conatining the application form and send it upon completion along with the prescribed fee.     IGNOU B.Ed and M.Ed. Admission 2019

    In addition to various UG, PG and Research courses, IGNOU also offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education, each of two years duration. Admission to the B.Ed and M.Ed. programme is done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test, conducted by IGNOU at all India level. Hall tickets for the entrance tests can be downloaded by the participating students from the official IGNOU website. IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test is usually held in the month of August every year.

    IGNOU offers a wide variety of Distance UG courses under various different specialization for 10+2 qualified students. Admission to the IGNOU courses usually commences in the month of February and the selection of eligible candidates is done based on their 10+2 examination marks. Apart from the Bachelor’s degree, the college also provides several Diploma courses for the Undergraduate students.

    IGNOU M.Phil, Ph.D Admission 2019

    The university also provides the candidates with an opportunity to research in their respective fields of study by offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses under different specializations. For the July academic session, the university is offering Ph.D in 25 subjects and M.Phil course in 9 subjects. Eligible candidates are required to appear for the entrance test conducted by the university for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D course. In case of Ph.D, candidates holding M.Phil. degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test.

    The entrance examination for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D program will be conducted in 13 cities across the country.

    For July 2019 session, applications for admission to various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate in Korean Language and Culture, Certificate in Japanese Language, and Post Graduate Certificate in Acupuncture will start in month of February/March 2019.

    1. The application form can be submitted online through the official IGNOU website
    2. The candidates are advised to download the prospectus and read the instructions carefully before filling up the form
    3. The candidates should remember their Username and Password for subsequent login
    4. Application fee can be paid by following methods

    Steps for Online Registration:

    Step 1: Before registration, all the first time applicants are advised to check the details including eligibility criteria, fee details, duration etc. for the desired programme from the “Online Admission System” portal available on the official IGNOU website

    Step 2: Upon verifying the necessary details, candidates should click on the “Register Yourself” button which appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.

    • UserName entered must be in between 8 to 16 characters.
    • Password entered must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.

    Step 3: Upon filling the mandatory information, candidate should click the “SUBMIT” button. Candidate’s username will be instantly sent to the registered e-mail ID and SMS. Student must remember his/her Username and Password for subsequent login.

    Note: Already registered/ existing users must click the “Login” button and enter their username along with the password to go any further.

    Step 4: Upon registering through “Login” button, candidate will be required to enter personal details, programme details, qualification details, course details, and correspondence details.

    • If the candidate subjects are different than the subjects mentioned, candidate should click the “Others” check box
    • For candidates having qualification of graduation and above, he/she should select “9999” in the field of “Board Code”
