Things You Should Know About JEE Mains

Registration Process For JEE Main

JEE Mains will be conducted twice a year viz January session and April session. For the January 2019 session, the application form was released in the month of September 2018 and the last date to pay the fees, upload photo and signature was 01-10-2018. For the April 2019 session, the application form was released from 08-02-2019 to 07-03-2019. It is important to check for the eligibility criteria to know if you are eligible for the exam or not. The details asked in the application form are personal details, academics, and contact information. The details provided should be valid. The exam fees can be paid through online mode or e-challan. Take the printout of the acknowledgement for reference.

JEE Main Exam Mode

The mode of the exam will be online. The drawing section of JEE Main Paper II will be conducted offline. NTA sets up a mock test for practice so that students can take up the test before appearing final exam and understand the paper pattern.

Number Of Sessions – JEE Mains (Papers)

This exam is conducted in two papers. Paper 1 is for B.Tech admissions whereas Paper II is for B.Arch. For B.Tech Paper, the type of questions asked is objective type only. The number of questions asked from each subject i.e., maths, physics, chemistry are 30. The B.Arch Paper consists of 30 and 50 objective questions from Mathematics and aptitude plus 2 subjective drawing questions. The exam will be conducted in various languages such as English, Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati, and Hindi. Paper 1 will be held online whereas paper 2 will be held online for maths and aptitude and offline for drawing part.  

Aadhaar Card For Registration

It is not compulsory to have Aadhaar card during registration as per the orders passed by the NTA authorities. The registration can be done with any Government identity viz Voter ID, Ration Card, Passport, and Driving License.

Checking Your Eligibility

Before applying for the JEE Main exam you have to check if you meet the eligibility criteria. It is mandatory that you qualify 12th standard or equivalent exam with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry and should score 75% marks to get admissions into NITs, CFTIs, and IIITs. For B.Arch it is mandatory for students to score 50% marks individually in Physics, Maths, Chemistry and also 50% aggregate marks in class 10 plus class 12 or equivalent exam. If you meet the cutoff score you will be eligible to take up the courses offered by NITs, CFTIs, and IIIT for B.Tech and B.Arch. If you rank in the top 2,24,000 JEE Main candidates then you are eligible for IIT admissions after qualifying JEE Advanced.
