IIM Indore PGDM Admission 2019: Courses, Placement, Fees
Indian Institute of Management, Indore or IIM Indore, is one of the premier management institutes in India. IIM takes admission to its PGP or Post Graduate Program in management through CAT. CAT is a national level entrance exam, conducted for selection of candidates for admission to 19 IIMs and about 150 other B-Schools.
To apply for admission to the PGP management program at IIM Indore, through CAT, a candidate must be a graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university in India. For foreign candidates, a valid score in GMAT is required.
The Institute will base its selection criteria on three main factors:
- Percentile score in CAT
- Academic Writing Test
- Personal Interview
Apart from these selection criteria, the institute also considers a candidate’s past academic record, work experience, and extra-curricular activities.
The application process for 2019 academic year is going on and a candidate can register themselves through the registration portal on official CAT website.

Eligibility
Post Graduate Programme in Management [PGPM]
- The basic eligibility criteria for admission to IIM Indore, through CAT, is a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university in India. For general candidates, the minimum percentage required in graduation is 50%, while for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Differently Abled (DA) candidates, the minimum required percentage in graduation is 45%.
- In case of a University, which follows the grade or CGPA system, the percentage will be calculated on the basis of procedure followed by the respective University, from where an applicant has completed/is pursuing their graduation degree.
- In case the University does not have system for conversion of grades to percentage, then the equivalent percentage will be calculated by dividing the CGPA by the maximum CGPA that can be attained and multiplying the result by 100.
- Candidates in the final year/semester of their undergraduate program can also apply. However, the institute will verify their eligibility on various stages of the selection process.
- In case of foreign/overseas candidates, the common eligibility is similar to Indian candidates. However, such candidates must also have a valid GMAT score with a minimum overall score of 700. The scores of GMAT exam taken during the period A only will be considered.
How To Apply
Post Graduate Programme in Management [PGPM]
There is a common application process for all the IIMs. Candidates have to apply through the CAT official website. At first, a candidate will have to register on the CAT website using the following details:
- Name
- Date of Birth as on official documents
- Email id
- Mobile number
After Registration, a candidate will receive a login id and password which shall be used to fill the form. During form filling, it is necessary that a candidate select the programs offered at IIM Indore and corresponding interview city in order to get a call from the institute.
The application fee for CAT is 1700 INR for General/NC-OBC candidate and 850 INR for SC/ST/DA candidates. The application process is complete only after successful payment of application fee.
In case of foreign/overseas/NRI candidates, they need to send filled-in copy of downloaded application form along with the following enclosures:
- Completed Application Form (Downloaded from the website)
- A copy of attested latest GMAT score
- A copy of the latest TOEFL score if the medium of instruction is not English
- Three letters of recommendation from a competent authority
- A statement of purpose
- Attested photocopy of passport
- Non-refundable application-processing fee of US $100 drawn in favor of Indian Institute of Management, Indore and payable at Indore
Admission Process

The selection process for IIM Indore is a three step process. The first stage of the selection is based on performance in CAT exam. IIM Indore shortlists candidates on the basis of overall and sectional marks scored in the CAT exam. The sectional and overall cutoff considered by IIM Indore is given below:

However, the cutoff mentioned above is only minimum cutoff percentile. The actual cutoff may be higher.
Shortlisting for WAT and PI
The second stage in Selection Process is WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview). IIM Indore conducts the WAT and PI rounds in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai only.
The candidates who fulfill the overall and sectional cutoff criteria will only be considered for shortlisting for the WAT and PI round. The institute will award composite scores to each candidate which is the basis for shortlisting of candidates for WAT and PI. The composite score is calculated on the basis of following factors:

- XII standard or High School Certificate (HSC) Examination marks
- CAT overall score
- Gender Diversity Factor

Note:
- Zcandidate = Candidate’s individual score (after normalization process)

Normalization is a process which every IIM follows to provide equal opportunity to candidates who might be at the receiving end because of the diversity in scoring process of schools, universities, and education boards across the country.
A candidate is required to attend both WAT and PI rounds and must obtain minimum qualifying marks in various criteria or parameters which are set by the selection committee of IIM Indore.
Final Selection for Admission to IIM Indore
Candidates who fulfill the common eligibility criteria laid down by the CAT authorities, and qualify the stages mentioned above are considered for admission to the PGP Management program at IIM Indore.
The Final Composite Score for each candidate is prepared based on the following factors:
- X standard or Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination marks

- Bachelor degree score
- WAT score
- PI score

Note:

Reservation
IIM Indore follows the reservation norms set by the Government of India. The category-wise seat reservation is given in the table below:

In addition to the seat reservation for the categories mentioned above, the Institute also has 3% seats reserved for the Differently Abled candidates. The three categories of disabilities which are considered for reservation are:
- Low-vision/blindness
- Hearing impairment
- Locomotor disability/cerebral palsy
Candidates applying for the seats reserved for differently abled candidates must be suffering from any of the disabilities mentioned above to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority.
