Gate 2018 – Exam date, Application Form will be Available from SEPTEMBER

GATE 2018 exam date and application form details are out. Organizer of this year’s Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, IITG, has launched GATE 2018 official website. GATE is a national level entrance exam. M.Tech and PhD admissions will be made through GATE 2018. GATE scores will also be used for PSU Recruitment. There are 23 papers namely AE, AG, AR, BT, CE, CH, CS, CY, EC, EE, EY, GG, IN, MA, ME, MN, MT, PE, PH, PI, TF, XE, XL . Those who apply before the last date will get admitted card at GOAPS.

GATE 2018 Exams Date

GATE 2018 important dates are officially available now. Candidates can mark these dates in their calendar to keep track of important events.

2018 Gate Registration

• To apply for the GATE examination candidate will visit www.gate.iitg.ac.in.
• In GATE 2018 online application form at GOAPS they will furnish their basic details and also upload their recent taken photograph, signature, thumb impression along with other relevant documents.
• Once all these details are verified by the candidate, an integrated payment gateway shall open. You may be required to pay the fee through net-banking or debit card or e-challan. Pick any suitable mode.
• The institute also allows you to check the status of your GATE application form.
• The following may be displayed on the computer screen: Received, Under Scrutiny, Accepted, Defect Status, Status after Rectification, Rejected with Valid Reasons, Admit Card Ready for Download.
  

  Application fees

  Candidate can payment for application fee online. Candidates who are submitting application form must pay application fee amount in order to complete form submission. Forms submitted without fee are not accepted.

  Center in India

  Female candidates have to pay Rs 750. SC, ST, PwD candidates have to pay Rs 750. All other candidates will pay Rs 1500.

  Center outside India

  All candidates who have opted for centers outside India will pay US $ 100 to appear in exam. Centres available outside India are Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), and Singapore.

  Criteria for GATE eligibility in order to get admission on basis of GATE score. Primarily, eligibility criteria consists of educational qualification and year of qualifying. IIT Guwahati informs eligibility criteria; see below. Note  there is no age limit in GATE exam.

Notification

• Candidates from Following country Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates are required to have either completed or be in final year of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Post-graduate (M.Sc.) degree in any relevant science subject.

2018 GATE Application Form Correction

Exam conducting body strongly advices candidates to avoid mistakes in application form. At beginning of form filling, any detail on correction is not mentioned in brochure. There are chances that IITG will allow form correction some fields mentioned below later on.

Facility to edit mistakes in GATE application form might be allowed for following fields

• Name,
• Parent’s name,
• Gen/OBC,
• Date of Birth,
• Address,
• Graduating Year

Exam Pattern GATE 2018

GATE is computer based (CBT). Comprehensive description of GATE 2018 exam pattern is given in following table. The questions asked are mostly fundamental, concept based and thought provoking.

GATE Virtual Calculator

GATE Virtual Calculator refers to an online calculator which is used during exam. It appears on screen during exam. Apart from this, phyical calculators are not allowed at centre.

Admit Card 2018 Gate

Admit cards shall be issued through the medium of GOAPS in 01st week of January 2018. It is required to bring a printed copy of the GATE 2018 admit card to the test centre along with the original identification card. You may bring any one of the following:-

• Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar UID, Employee identification card, Valid College ID or Driving License is valid.
• For International candidates, ONLY a valid Passport/ Government issued ID/College ID/ Employee ID is valid.

Special Note- You are also advised to be present at the centre at least 1 hour before the exam commences.

GATE 2018 Answer Key

IIT Guwahati is to release answer key of 23 papers after exam. Students who will have appeared can check GATE 2018 answer key to know correct answers. Considering that this is a computer based test, answer keys come as question paper with answer form. It can be viewed online.

GATE 2018 Result

Candidates will get marks for correct answer, and marks will get deducted for incorrect answers. By doing this, a raw socre is arrived at. Raw score is converted to normalized score using GATE score formula. GATE 2018 result will indicate score and rank. Usually score is important for admission and recruitment. Rank will indicate position in merit list of GATE paper of that discipline. Score will be valid for three (3) years.

There are 23 IITs in India, and one IISc. GATE exam organizing responsibility is taken by them on rotational basis. IIT Guwahati, will hold GATE 2018. This institute has responsibility of conducting GATE exam 2018 for M.Tech admission 2018-2019 and is hereby referred to as Organizing Institute. Official website of GATE 2018 is www.gate.iitg.ac.in. It is managed and looked after by organising body.

GATE Financial Assistance

Colleges supported by MHRD or other govt agencies offer financial assistance against valid GATE score. GATE Financial Assistance refers to MHRD scholarship / assistance can be based either only on GATE score or GATE along with interview and institute test. Number of students who get financial assistance after getting admission in an institute depends on institute. Apart from that also there are fellowships by government organizations.

PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2018

Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) offer employment on GATE score. Important organizations that do so include IOCL, NTPC, ONGC, Power Grid. Keep checking PSU websites for PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2018.

GOAPS

GATE Online Application Processing System is portal where aspirants apply, download admit card, check result. Here they can also check application status. Enrolment ID, registration ID and date of birth are login credentials for GOAPS. For GATE 2018, GOAPS is at IIT Guwahati website of GATE exam at gate.iitg.ac.in.
