Assam Universityis a Central University which was established in the year 1994 and located in lush green Silchar region of the Assam state. The University is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). Under Assam University Admissions 2019, the University offers various UG, Integrated, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, Certificate, M.Phil. and PhD courses in various specializations. Admission to certain courses will be on the basis of Entrance Exams conducted by Assam University while for most of them, scores obtained in external Entrance Exams will be considered.

Assam University, Silchar UG, Integrated and Diploma Courses Admission

Admissions to UG and Integrated courses are done on basis of marks acquired by a candidate in 10+2 or equivalent (in the relevant field). Admission to certain UG courses will be done on basis of Entrance Exams whereas admissions in many of them are merit-based.

• 10+2 from CBSE/ Equivalent – Minimum 40% marks (BPA).
• 10+2 from CBSE/ Equivalent – Minimum 45% marks (BVA).
• 10+2 from CBSE/ Equivalent – Minimum 50% marks (B.Sc. + B.Ed., B.Voc., BA LLB (Hons.) and B.Pharm.).
• 10+2 from CBSE/ Equivalent – Minimum 55% marks (B.Tech. and B.Sc. + M.Sc.).
• 10+2 from CBSE/ Equivalent + 1 year of Certificate of Proficiency in French – Diploma.
• Graduation – Minimum 50% marks (LLB).
• Diploma in Engineering/ Technology – Minimum 60% marks. (B.Tech. (Lateral)).
• Entrance Exam by Assam University & Personal Interview – Valid Score (B.Sc. + B.Ed., B.Voc., BPA, BVA, B.Sc. + M.Sc. and B.Pharm.).
• JEE Main Entrance Exam – Valid Score (for B.Tech.).

Final Selection to the programs is based on the allocation of seats through Counselling conducted by the concerned counseling authority.

Assam University, Silchar PG Admission

Admissions to PG courses are done on basis of marks acquired by a candidate in their Bachelor’s Degree Examination or equivalent (in the relevant field). Admission to certain PG courses will be done on basis of Entrance Exams whereas admissions in many of them are merit-based.

• Bachelor’s Program – Minimum 45% marks (M.LIB.I.SC.).
• Bachelor’s Program – Minimum 50% marks.
• B.Ed. – Minimum 55% marks (for M.Ed.).
• Bachelor’s Program – Minimum 60% marks (for MBA).
• Entrance Exam & Personal Interview – Valid Score (for MA, M.Sc., M.Com., MSW, ).
• CAT Entrance Exam – Minimum 70% Score (for MBA).
• GATE Entrance Exam – Valid Score (for M.Tech.).

Final Selection to the programs is based on the allocation of seats through Counselling conducted by the concerned counseling authority.

Assam University, Silchar M.Phil. and Ph.D. Admission

Assam University offers three-year full-time M.Phil. Program to candidates having Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with at least 55% marks in aggregate whereas, for admission to three-year full-time Ph.D. research course, candidates should hold Master’s degree/ M.Phil. in relevant field with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. Final selection of candidates is done on the basis of:

• Entrance Test followed by Personal Interview conducted by Assam University.
• UGC (NET)/ CSIR (JRF) Examination (for Ph.d.).
• SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holders (for Ph.D.).
• Direct award of Fellowship by DST (INSPIRE), ICMR or any such national agency (Ph.D.).
• Any other equivalent test.
