GRE at Home Test

GRE Test at Home: ETS – the organization responsible for the GRE exam spares no effort to make the GRE test as accessible as possible for students who wish to take the GRE test for study abroad. Due to the ongoing pandemic, COVID-19 and locally imposed lockdowns, GRE testing centers are operating at reduced capacity or have been temporarily closed. Therefore, students who want to take their GRE exams face difficulties in taking the GRE exam. In response to the crisis, ETS introduced the at-home GRE test for locations where the computer-based format of the GRE test was previously available for students wishing to study abroad. However, test-takers should ensure that they meet the system equipment requirements set by ETS before registering for the GRE test and also maintain a test-friendly environment throughout the duration of the GRE test.

ETS is offering a series of webinars on its official website to introduce applicants to this new feature. The home edition of the GRE test, the GRE Home Test, would be available to students until each country’s test centers return to full capacity or until further notice. The GRE results are communicated to the student within 10-15 days. Applicants should keep in mind that due to the ongoing pandemic, a printed copy of the scorecard is not available to the student.

Numerous security measures have been put in place, including artificial intelligence (AI) technology and live supervisory staff adopted by ETS to ensure the home test runs smoothly. Accommodation for applicants with disabilities is also available for students who need it and upon request. No other significant changes were made by the ETS when administering the GRE test at home. Applicants are advised to visit the official website for a detailed understanding. ETS has also temporarily waived deferral fees for all applicants due to the current crisis.
