5Aspirants who wish to take admission to MBBS / BDS courses should submit the fill-in application form on or before June 8, 2017 by 5:00 P.M. Until 2016-2017, the admission to MBBS and BDS in Tamil Nadu came into the Tamil Nadu Admission in Professional Educational Institutions Act 2006. But, due to the amendment made to the Medical Council of India Act, 2016 and the Dentist Act, 2016 by Government of India, the common eligibility test introduced by the Government of India viz. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG)

Tamil Nadu 2017 MBBS Merit List

The provisional merit has been published by Secretary, Selection Committee on its website: www.tnhealth.org, www.tnmedicalselection.org.

Tamilnadu Medical Admission 2017 – Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a citizen of India
  2. Overseas Citizens of India, who are registered under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (Central Act 57 of 1955), are also eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS courses, however they will have to produce proof of such registration.

Nativity

  1. Should be a native of Tamil Nadu
  2. Candidates who have studied Classes VIII to XII Classes in schools in Tamil Nadu need not submit the “ Nativity Certificate”, but the candidates who have studied Classes VIII to XII pertly or completely outside Tamil Nadu have to submit the “ Nativity Certificate”

Age Limit

The candidate should have completed the 17 years of the age on or before 31st December 2017.

Educational Qualification

For MBBS

  1. For other communities:
  • Minimum of 50% marks in Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together.
  • Minimum of 50% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.
  • Aggregate percentage of marks should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks combined in (a) and (b).
  1. Backward Class and Backward Class Muslim : –

(a) Minimum of 50% marks in Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together.

(b) Minimum of 50% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

(c) Aggregate percentage of marks should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks combined in (a) and (b).

  1. Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities : –

(a) Minimum of 50% marks in Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together.

(b) Minimum of 50% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

(c) Aggregate percentage of marks should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks combined in (a) and (b).

  1.  Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste–Arunthathiyar , Scheduled Tribes : –

(a) Minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

(b) Minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

(c) Aggregate percentage of marks should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks combined in (a) and (b)

  1. The candidates under Physically challenged Category – (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) –  OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DC should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in each of the  prescribed subject in the qualifying examination.

For BDS

The  OC / BC / BCM/ MBC/ DC candidates  should have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Botany and Zoology taken together in the qualifying examination.

(ii) Scheduled Caste, Scheduled caste – Arunthathiyar and Scheduled Tribe –  The aggregate marks for admission shall be 40%.

(iii) The candidates under physically challenged category (OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DC) should have obtained not less than 45% of the aggregate marks in the above mentioned subjects at the qualifying examination.

NOTE: Normalization method will be used for calculation the minimum eligibility marks.

What is Normalization?

Under the normalization method, highest marks obtained by the students of various Boards in each subject will be In normalization, the highest mark obtained by the students of various Boards in each subject will be equivalent to the highest mark obtained by the students of State Board in that subject and the relative marks obtained by other students in that subject will be determined accordingly.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria

  • To be able to take admission in MBBS course, it is necessary to obtain a minimum marks at 50th percentile in NEET 2017.

Tamil Nadu 2017 Application Form

Candidates can fill the application from June 27, 2017 to July 7,2017 from 10 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. onwards. You need to submit the application form on or before the last date. Any application submitted thereafter will be rejected. Before filling the application form and OMR sheet read the instructions carefully. Only one application form will be used for admission in MBBS and BDS courses. Candidates can track their Application status through the link below.

 

The details to be filled in the application form are:

  • 10+2 Register Number, year and month
  • NEET 2017 Register number and Score
  • Name of the applicant
  • Name of the Parent/ Guardian
  • Gender
  • Marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology, Botany, Zoology
  • Select the medium of Instruction from either English, Tamil or others
  • Address for communication
  • Email ID
  • Contact Number
  • Signature of the applicant and the parent/ guardian
  • Photograph

Application Charges

The Candidates who have bought the applications from the Government Medical/Dental Colleges need not enclose the Demand Draft for Rs.500/- again.

Important Points to Remember

  1. Name of the candidate and name of the course opted (MBBS/ BDS) should be written on the reverse of the DD.
  2. The photograph must be taken on or before April 1, 2017
  3. The photograph must be taken with a placard showing the name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph.
  4. The photograph pasted on the Application Form should be attested by a Gazetted Officer / Headmaster / Headmistress with a clear stamp. However, the photograph pasted on the OMR sheet need not be attested.

Also, you need to enclose documents along with the application form. You need to submit only the photocopies of each of the documents, as no document enclosed with the application will be returned. The list of documents to be attached are:

  • H.S.C Mark sheet or any other equivalent examination.
  • Transfer certificate obtained completion of H.S.C or equivalent exam
  • If applicable, nativity certificate
  • Permanent Community Certificate
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet
  • Certificate of proof of study from class 8th to 12th standard.
  • H.S.C Hall Ticket
  • If applicable, first graduate certificate
  • NEET score card
  • Special category form(s) with DDs and relevant certificates (if applicable)

Documents to be submitted under NRI management Quota

  • Original declaration letter from the parent for sponsorship.
  • NEET 2017 score card.
  • Letter from the embassy/employer for the residence proof of the parent.
  • 10th Mark sheet.
  • HSC or equivalent Mark Sheet.
  • Transfer certificate obtained after the completion of HSC or equivalent courses.
  • Passport of the candidate and the parent.

Tamil Nadu MBBS 2017 Counselling

Selected candidates will be called for counselling as per the schedule. The counselling schedule will be provided on the website and the call letter can also be downloaded from the website. Candidates will be called for counselling as per their merit list. The options once exercised by the candidate during counselling will be final and any request for change will not be entertained. It is important to attend 1st phase of counselling, as any candidate who does not appear during the 1st phase will not be allowed to appear for subsequent round of counselling.
