Banaras Hindu University commonly referred as BHU; formerly known as Central Hindu College is a public central university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. It is the only university which has IIT in its campus named IIT (BHU). BHU is organized into 6 institutes and 14 faculties (streams) and more than 132 departments. Total student enrolment at the university exceeds 30000 and includes students from over 34 nations.

BHU Admission 2019 Facts

  • BHU 2019 Application form for the courses under UET/PET extended till March 16, 2019.
  • BHU BA LLB entrance exam will now held on May 16, 2019 (9:00 – 11:00 AM).
  • BHU BFA Theory Entrance test will held on May 16, 2019 (4:00 – 5:00 PM).
  • BHU 2019 Exam Dates for admission in all courses are May 12-16, 2019.
  • BHU 2019 PET will be held for various Post Graduate courses such as MA, M.Sc., MCA, MFA, MPA, LLM etc.
  • BHU 2019 UET will be held for various UG courses like B.Sc., LLB, BFA, BA, B.Ed, BPA, etc.
  • BHU 2019 MBBS admission will be done on NEET score. Candidates with valid NEET score can participate in MCC counselling for 84 MBBS seats.
  • BHU 2019 MBA admission will be based on CAT score. Last date for registering in BHU for MBA was January 28, 2019.
  • BHU 2019 Semester Examination to be held twice a year for all courses.

Note:

  • In the case of SC/ST candidates, there will be no requirement for minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination except that they must have passed the qualifying examination & appeared in the concerned Entrance Test.
  • For OBC and PC candidates there will be a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination in minimum eligibility requirements, in comparison to general category candidates.

BHU UG Admission through UET 2019

At UG level, BHU proposes various specializations under 10 courses such as BA (Hons), B.Com (Hons), B.Sc (Ag), B.P.Ed, BPA, BFA, B.Sc (Hons), Shastri (Hons), Bachelor of Vocational Programs and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed/B.Ed Special). The duration period depends upon the nature of courses.

For admission in B.P.Ed and B.Ed, students must possess a graduate degree in relevant discipline. Furthermore, the eligible candidates will have to appear in a common entrance test named Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET) conducted by the university.

BHU LLB and BA-LLB Admission 2019

BHU also offers BA.LLB and LLB courses to the aspiring students who want to pursue their career in the field of Law. The duration for BA.LLB and LLB are 5 years and 3 years.

In order to seek admission in BA.LLB, students must have qualified 10+2 level or equivalent in relevant discipline. The eligible candidates need to appear in the Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET) conducted by the university.

  • The applicant who has obtained 10+2 through open Universities System directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies shall not be eligible for admission to 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.).
  • The SC/ST candidates seeking admission to LL.B Course/B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) must have scored at least 40% marks in the aggregate considering all the subjects in the Qualifying Examination.
  • For OBC and PC candidates there will be a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination in minimum eligibility requirements, in comparison to general category candidates.
  • The total number of seats available is 60.

BHU MBBS/BDS Admission through NEET 2019

For admission in MBBS or BDS course offered by BHU one has to clear the NEET exam. After that the he/she has to participate in MCC Counselling where he/she can choose BHU as their choice. The minimum eligibility for the MBBS/BDS course is 50% marks in 10+2 with PCB and English (40% for reserved categories). Minimum age for the general category candidate is 17 years (5 years relaxation for reserved catogories).

BHU PG Admission through PET 2019

BHU offers several courses like Acharya, MA, MPA and MBA in various specializations at PG level. The duration for each of the courses is two years. Admission in the above-mentioned courses is based on the marks scored in Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) conducted by the university.

At Research level, BHU offers Ph.D course in many specializations. In order to seek admission, candidates must have studied and passed Master’s degree in relevant discipline. Admission is done on the basis of marks scored in Research Entrance Test (RET) conducted by the university.

BHU Application Process 2019

Students are advised to follow the below-mentioned steps, in order to apply for the courses offered by the University.

  1. Candidates need to visit the official website of BHU or the entrance test portal.
  2. Candidates need to fill up the form ONLINE.
  3. Application fee has to be made either ONLINE through net-banking or credit/debit card, or in cash through Challan in any branch of HDFC Bank.
  4. Application fee is INR 500 for GEN/OBC category students and INR 250 for SC/ST/PH candidates
  5. For MBA and MBA (IB), the application fee is INR 1500 for GEN/OBC category students  and INR 800 for SC/ST students
  6. In case the candidate makes application for more than one course, the application fee for each subsequent application shall be INR 200 and INR 100 for GEN/OBC candidates and ST/SC/PH candidates respectively

BHU Reservation Process 2019

  •  15% & 7.5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates in each course respectively.
  • 27% Reservation to candidates belonging to OBC category (excluding under creamy layer) will be provided in different courses
  • 3% seats shall be reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates: Visually Impaired (1%)+ Hearing Impaired (1%) + Orthopaedically Handicapped (1%)
  • 15% seats out of total number of seats in M.P.Ed. are allocated for female candidates. In case any such seats remain vacant, these will be filled by male candidates on merit
  • 15% supernumerary seats in all the courses (including special courses) shall be available for the sons/daughters (including married daughters) of permanent employees (including those on probation) of BHU currently in service
  • There is provision for supernumerary “PAID SEATS” (not exceeding 15% of the total number of seats) in certain courses, the details of which will be available at the time of admission from the concerned Faculty/Department. However, no such provision is available for Special Courses
  • Provision to the extent of 15% supernumerary seats for Foreign Nationals exist, out of which 5% seats will be filled up by children of NRIs and 5% by children of Indian workers in Gulf and South Asian Countries
