Dates of examination
GATE 2018 is expected to be held in January or February 2018. Date of examination will be notified through advertisement which is expecetd to be released in June.
It is conducted on behalf of NCB (National Coordinating Board) with the joint collaboration of 8 zones divided across the country:-
- Zone-1: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
- Zone-2: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
- Zone-3: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
- Zone-4: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
- Zone-5: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
- Zone-6: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
- Zone-7: Indian Institute of Technology Madras
- Zone-8: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
GATE 2018 Exam Conducting Body
Annually, the responsibility to conduct the GATE is handled rotationally by one of the above mentioned zones. Last year, IIT Roorkee organised GATE. The website also changes as per the organising institution changes.

Highlights of GATE Exam
- In XE (Engineering Science) a new section was introduced in last paper, in XE called Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. Therefore, the number of sections has increased to 8 (From A-H).
- The exams are held in 2 sessions instead of 1.
- GATE is also conducted in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates. The International candidates should have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree in Science in relevant subject or are in the final year of the program.

GATE 2018 Eligibility Criteria
Anyone with B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Pharm./B. Arch./ B.Sc. (Research)/ B.S./ M. Sc./ M.A./MCA or equivalent/ Int. M.E/ M.Tech (Post-B.Sc.)/ Int. M.E./ M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)/Int. M.Sc/ Int. B.S.-M.S. can apply for GATE. All these candidate must have an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution.
Application form filling procedure for GATE 2018
To Apply for the GATE examination candidate will visit the official website of the organising institute. The link will be available on the site using which, the candidate will furnish their basic details and also Upload their recent taken photograph, signature, thumb impression along with other relevant documents.
The valid document accepted might be graduation certificate, category certificate. Once all these details are verified by the candidate, an integrated payment gateway shall open. You may be required to pay the fee through net-banking or debit card or e-challan. Pick any suitable mode. The institute also allows you to check the status of your application. The following may be displayed on the computer screen: Received, Under Scrutiny, Accepted, Defect Status, Status after Rectification, Rejected with Valid Reasons, Admit Card Ready for Download, etc.

GATE 2018 Admit Card
Admit cards shall be issued through the medium of GOAPS tentatively by 01st week of January 2018. It is better to bring a printed copy of the admit card to the test centre along with the original identification card. You may bring any one of the following:-
(i) Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar UID, Employee identification card, Valid College ID or Driving License is valid.
(ii) For International candidates, ONLY a valid Passport/ Government issued ID/College ID/ Employee ID is valid.
Special Note- You are aslo advised to be present at the centre at least 1 hour before the exam commences.

How to prepare for GATE 2018?
Once you have decided to appear for the GATE exam, preparation needs to begin. An effective strategy to prepare for GATE is when you are clear on the three points.
- Which paper you wish to appear for, and whether you are eligible for the same.
- Know the syllabus for GATE.
- Have a clear plan of action for GATE preparation.
Determine the eligibility and go through the GATE 2018 syllabus. A good plan for GATE exam preparation must have the following points.
- Study hours – Study at least 5 hours every day. Divide your time between studying theory, practising questions, and solving mock tests.
- Books – Refer to the important books for GATE preparation.
- Question papers – For self analysis, and understanding the level of difficulty as well as the examination pattern, go through last year papers. GATE Papers of past years of all subjects are available online.
