Downloaded online application should accompany DD drawn in favour of “Comptroller, Dr.YSRHU, payble at Tadepalligudem” for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) for M.Sc. (Hort.) and Rs.1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only) for Ph.D (Hort.) for general category and in case of SC/ ST/PHC candidates Rs.250/- and Rs.500/- respectively along with two self addressed envelopes with pincode affixing postage stamps of Rs.5/- (Rs.10/- for M.Sc. (Hort.) – Outside State Quota) on each.

Eligibility Criteria & Seats Intake

Last year eligibility criteria and seats intake is given below.

(I) For M.Sc.(Hort.) Programmes

M.Sc.(Hort.) with specialization in Fruit Science (7 seats), Vegetable Science (9 seats), Floriculture and Landscape Architecture (6 seats) and Spices, Plantations, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops (4 seats), Post Harvest Technology (4 seats), Horticultural Pathology (3 seats), Horticultural Entomology (3 seats) seats with a total of 36 regular seats and 4 extra seats to outside state students in above specializations.

(II) For M.Sc. (Hort.) Programmes – Outside State Quota

• M.Sc.(Hort.) with specialization in Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Plantation, Spices, Medicinal & Aromatic Crops, Entomology, Plant Pathology and Post Harvest Technology.
• Number of Seats: 4 (without stipend) in the following departments.

(III) Ph.D.(Hort.) Programmes

Ph.D (Hort.) – with specialization in Fruit Science (2), Vegetable Science (2), Floriculture and Landscape Architecture (1) and Plantation, Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops (1) seats with a total of 6 regular seats. One (1) extra seat is alloted to University toppers in M.Sc.(Hort.) Programme (Inspire fellow) from outside state universities over and above regular seats.

Qualifications for admission: Candidates seeking admission into Master’s Degree course in Horticulture must have passed the relevant Bachelor’s Degree i.e, B.Sc. (Hons.) Hortilculture with a OGPA of 5.5/10 and for Ph.D a minimum of 6.50/10.00 OGPA in M.Sc.(Horticulture) from ICAR Accreditated University.

Age: The upper age limit is 40 years as on 01 July of this year.

Selection Criteria

Last year eligibility criteria is given below.

M.Sc.(Horticulture) : The selection shall be based on the weightage for previous academic record (B.Sc.-30%, Intermediate – (10+2) – 10% and S.S.C – 10%) and performance in Entrance test (50%). General and OBC candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test will be objective type for 200 marks, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the concerned Bachelor degree requirements of this University.

Ph.D (Horticulture) : The Selection shall be based on the previous academic record (M.Sc.(Hort.) – 30%, B.Sc (Hort.) – 10%, and performance in Entrance Test (50%) and 10% for interview. Candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test will be objective type for 200 marks, with 100 marks from specialization in horticulture and 40 marks from compulsory Biochemistry and statistics couses and another 60 marks from general horticulture.
