JEE Advanced 2017 (IIT JEE 2017)

JEE Advanced is an admission test for admission conducting in IIT’s. IIT Madras is responsible for implementing JEE Advanced 2017 at a level of India. Only candidates who are qualified in JEE (M), among other conditions, are entitled to this exam. Application for JEE (A) 2017 release in line, and then give card. JEE Advanced 2017 Eligibility

The eligibility will be based on five criteria. The candidates will be evaluated on this basis of these mandatory conditions. Fulfilling these conditions is the initial process to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017. Now let us look at the points:-

Criterion 1 – Performance in JEE (Main) 2017: Candidates must be included among the top 2,20,000 (including all categories) by scoring positive marks in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2017. The process to select the top 2,20,000 is given in the table next to the percentage table.

The percentages of reservation various categories wise is as below:

The table shows the usual order to be followed to select the top 2,20,000 candidates in various categories who have scored positive marks in JEE (Main) 2017 paper.

Criterion 2 – Age limit: applicants for JEE Advanced should have been born on or after October 1, 1992. SC, ST and PwD candidates will be entitled to 5 years relaxation which means that these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1987.

Criterion 3 – Number of attempts: JEE (Advanced) can be attempted for a maximum of 2 times in consecutive years. If you have appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2016, you will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2017.

Criterion 4 – Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination: candidate applying for JEE Advanced must have appeared in 12th Class examination for the first time in either 2016 or 2017. candidates whose 12th Board results for 2014-15 academic year were declared after June 2015 may also apply for JEE (Advanced) 2017.

Criterion 5 – Earlier admission at IITs: if the admission of the candidate was cancelled at IITs are NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017. However, candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2016 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017.

Registration fees for JEE (Advanced) 2017

The candidate will be required to pay a certain amount of sum to complete their JEE Advanced Registration. The amount to be paid by each category is mentioned here in the table. Please note that the registration fee will be paid only through net banking, debit cards and SBI challan only. credit cards will not accepted.

Registration Procedure

Students who have cleared the JEE Main and want to proceed to apply to JEE Advanced are informed that the registration process will only be done on the JEE Advanced web portal. The application through any other medium will not be accepted The registration procedure consists of three basic steps.

Step-1: providing the basic data after login which includes the choice of the language of question paper (English or Hindi), the choices of the cities for the examination. You will also be allowed to add another cell phone number during JEE (Main) registration. JEE (Advanced) 2017 result will be sent to one of these numbers by SMS.

Step-2: Uploading of requisite documents

Applicants will be required to upload the requisite documents such as Class 10 certificate, Class 12th certificate (for those who appeared for this examination in 2016 or whose result was declared after June 2015) for all candidates. Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL category OBC-NCL will produce their OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after April 1, 2017 and candidates belonging to SC/ST category Category will produce SC/ST certificate etc.

Step-3: Pay registration fee- pay the mentioned amount in the table can complete your registration formalities. Please note that the registration fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable

JEE Advanced 2017 Admit Card

Successfully registered JEE (Advanced) 2017 candidates can download their JEE (Advanced) 2017 Admit Card from the online registration portal at www.jeeadv.ac.in please note that the Portal will remain active from 10 May 2017 (10:00 am) to 21 May 2017 (09:00 pm).

Your Name, Roll number, signature, photograph, date of birth, address details, category, medium of the questions paper, details of the venue will be printed on the admit card.

Candidates should examine the admit card entries. For any discrepancy related to admit card or in case where the candidate is unable to download the admit card, please contact the Chairman, JEE (Advanced) 2017 of the respective coordination IIT zones

JEE (Advanced) 2017 Admit Card must be produced at the time of examination. The original admit card for paper 2 will be issued during the Paper 1. Retain original admit card carefully.

Cut off for JEE Advanced

The candidates who appear for JEE Advanced will be required to attain a minimum score of percentage to be declared passed . the candidates are informed that JEE cut off is available for the candidate here in the table so that they they know how much percentage of score they will need to be declared qualified. The candidates will be required to attain a minimum percentage of of marks in each subject and minimum percentage of marks in aggregate. The candidate who obtain this target will be declared qualified. Please see the table below to check the minimum percentage of Cut off to be obtained:-

JEE Advanced 2017 Result

Results for JEE Advanced 2017 will be declared on June 11, 2017 at 10:00 am. The result will include the Category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates. The list will be published on the online portal at jeeadv.nic.in on the official website. A text message will also be sent to you regarding the same. You will be able to check the All India Rank. Please note that candidates will not be receive any Individual rank cards. Admission will depend on the availability of the seats left during various rounds of seat allocation.

Question: I have Class XII pass certificate and the marks statement as a separate document. Which document should I upload during the JEE (Advanced) 2017 registration?

Answer: Upload the Class XII marks statement.

Question: I have appeared in Class XII examination in 2017. Will I be able to register for JEE (Advanced) 2017 without uploading Class XII certificate?

Answer: Yes. The candidates who appeared in Class XII examination in 2017 do not have to upload any document with respect to Class XII Examination.

Question: Can I get the question paper in Hindi language?

Answer: Yes. JEE (Advanced) 2017 offers question papers in two languages: English and Hindi. Candidates have to choose the language option during the JEE (Advanced) 2017 registration.

Question: Can I get question papers in English as well as in Hindi?

Answer: Candidates will get only one question paper – either English question paper or Hindi question paper but not both.

Question: Will the question paper be bilingual (both in Hindi and English) ?

Answer: No. You will get the question papers in only one language (English or Hindi).

Question: Writing Paper-1 and Paper-2 in JEE (Advanced) 2017 compulsory ?

Answer: Yes, it is compulsory. If a candidate is absent in one of the papers, then the candidate will be considered as absent from the examination.

Question: What is my login id to apply for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Our login is your JEE (Main) roll number. The password is same as that used for JEE(MAIN).

Question: Are PIO and OCI card holders eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Yes. PIO and OCI card holders are eligible. Please refer to the relevant section of Information Brochure for more information.

Question: Are PIO and OCI card holders eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017 without writing JEE (MAIN)?

Answer: No. This option is available to foreign candidates only (please refer to the information brochure for foreign candidates).

Question: Do I need to enter my mobile number in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Yes, you need to have at least one valid mobile number in the application form.

Question: How many mobile numbers I can give in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: You can give up to two mobile numbers.

Question: In which step I can upload my certificates in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: In the Step 2, you upload your certificates.

Question: In which step I can pay the registration fee in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: In step 3, you are required to pay the fee.

Question: Can I use credit card to pay the registration fee for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: The registration fee payment is through net banking, debit cards and SBI challan only. No credit card payment is permitted.

Question: Is it advisable to fill in the registration form for JEE (Advanced) 2017 on the last date?

Answer: The confirmation from the banks comes only once in a day! So earlier submission of your application is recommended.

Question: Up to which step can I pay the registration fee without late fee for registering for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: If you complete your step 2 by 2nd May 2017, then you can pay the normal fee. But if you complete the step 2 on 3rd or 4th May, then you have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 500.

Question: During JEE (Main) 2017 registration I have declared my category wrongly. Can I correct it during JEE (Advanced) 2017 registration?

Answer: No. Category declared during JEE (Main) 2017 registration cannot be changed.

Question: I have appeared in JEE (Main) Paper II. Am I eligible for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) without writing JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: No. Only the candidates who qualify in JEE (Advanced) 2017 are eligible for AAT 2017. There is no relation between JEE (Main) Paper II and AAT.

Question: How can I get reservation benefit under OBC(NCL) category in JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: If your parents’ income falls under NON-CREAMY LAYER (NCL) of the other backwards classes (OBC), then you are eligible for the OBC (NCL) quota. If you do not fall under NCL, then do not tick the OBC(NCL) button.

Question: I have declared my category as OBC-NCL during JEE (Main) 2017 registration. I do not have a valid NCL certification. Can I upload a certificate issued prior to 01-April -2017?

Answer: No. A valid OBC-NCL certificate as per the prescribed format issued on or after 1st April-2017 should be uploaded for getting the benefits of OBC-NCL category.

Question: I have OBC-NCL certificate issued in the format specified by a state government. Can I upload this certificate to avail myself of OBC-NCL benefits?

Answer: No. The certificate should be in the format specified by the central government as per the prescribed format and the caste should be in the central list of OBCs.

Question: I am not able to obtain the OBC(NCL) certificate at the time of registration. What should I do?

Answer: If you are not able to obtain the OBC (NCL) certificate in the month of April 2017, you can upload a self-declaration saying that you will do so by 5th of June 2017 (that is, after about one more month).

Question: I have declared my category as OBC-NCL during JEE (Main) 2017 registration. But I do not belong to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL). Can I register for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Yes, you can register by declaring that you do not belong to OBC(NCL) provided if your JEE (Main) 2017 score is above the general category cut-off. If your JEE (Main) 2017 score is below the general category cut-off you are not eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017.

Question: If I do not submit the OBC(NCL) certificate by 5th June, can I submit it at the time of Reporting?

Answer: No, since your declared result is also based on the category. Therefore, if you do not submit the certificate by 5th June 2017, your result will be based on general category.

Question: I have accepted a seat through JoSAA 2016. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: If you have accepted seat in IITs then you are NOT eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017.

Question: I have taken admission in one of the IITs for preparatory course. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Yes. You are eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017 subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria.

Question: I have taken admission into one of the NITs in 2016. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Yes. The candidates who have taken admissions in NITs in 2016 are also eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2017, if they satisfy all other eligibility criteria given in the information brochure.

Question: I am appearing in class XII exam first time in 2017. If I do not write JEE (ADV) 2017, am I eligible for JEE(ADV) in 2018 and 2019?

Answer: As per rules on date, you can appear in 2017 and 2018, but not in 2019.

Question: I am a defense service (DS) personnel. Can my child get a seat under DS category?

Answer: Not all defense service personnel’ children are eligible for DS category seats. DS category seats are earmarked for children of defense/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations.

Question: During examination can I modify my answers bubbled on ORS?

Answer: No. Since the bubbling on ORS is done using only black ball point pen, candidates cannot modify the answers once bubbled.

Question: When should I reach my examination center to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017?

Answer: Try to reach your examination center well in advance. It is best to familiarize yourself with the venue a day before to avoid the unnecessary stress on the day of the exam.

Question: If I am absent in one of the papers, will my result be declared ?

Answer: You will be considered absent from the examination and will be disqualified to receive the result. It is compulsory for you to appear in both the papers.

Question: Am I required to provide finger prints to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017 ?

Answer: Yes, an important part of the pre-exam procedure is taking a fingerprint of your index finger. Remember the same fingerprint is used when you come for the seat acceptance after qualifying in the examination.

Question: What care I need to take for providing finger prints to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017 ?

Answer: This is best done if your hands are clean and you have not used any oil/ cream.

Question: Is there any dress code to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2017 ?

Answer: Do not wear unnecessary things such as rings, chains, bangles, ear-rings or a modern watch. A simple analogue watch is permitted so that you can have the estimate of time.
